The Other Bar’s annual Spring Networking is fast approaching. It will be held the weekend of April 21-23 at the beautiful Catamaran Hotel Resort and Spa on the waterfront in San Diego. If you have ever attended this event, you know how worthwhile it is, and I hope you plan to join us this year in order to reconnect with old friends, renew your involvement with The Other Bar, recharge your recovery and be there to welcome and embrace newcomers and first-time attendees.
If you have not been to a networking, here are some things you should know:
- This event is a celebration of The Other Bar and its role in the recovery of attorneys statewide. Unlike the workshop-oriented, members-only Men’s and Women’s Fall Retreats, this is a social event where members as well as their spouses or significant others are welcome to join in the weekends’ activities.
- The weekend includes numerous presentations by excellent speakers, traditional Other Bar meetings, an evening banquet, and perhaps most importantly, the opportunity to socialize with old and new friends in a beautiful serene setting with a focus on the spiritual principles and values that unite us as fellow travelers on our shared journey as clean and sober members of the legal profession.
- In addition, three MCLE courses will be offered, Bias, Ethics, and Competency Issues/Substance Abuse, so that attendees can pick up all of these required units in one weekend! (Bonus: This also makes the Networking a deductible business expense!)
- Scholarships are available for anyone whose financial condition would preclude attendance. It is our longstanding tradition to offer this benefit as a way of welcoming those in early recovery to The Other Bar, and to provide a fulfilling experience which reinforces their return to the mainstream of professional and personal life. Experience has shown that being embraced unconditionally in this fashion is very meaningful and memorable to scholarship recipients who often go on to become dedicated long-term Other Bar members.
SO: Please join us! At otherbar.org you will find a flyer with links to register for the event and reserve your hotel accommodations. Hope to see you there!
